Rolland “Sam” Kolve 1995 – 2011

Rolland “Sam” Kolve was 15 years old when he was playing football. He was tackled and fell to the ground. His spine began to ache and continued to get worse. He slowly began to lose his ability to walk. After several doctor visits, a CAT scan revealed that he had cancer on his spine. The hospital confirmed this and he was immediately flown from Great Falls to Denver Children’s Hospital to begin treatment.

Sam was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer known as Alveolar Rhabdomyosarcoma and only a 15% chance of survival. After two years of chemotherapy, radiation, and tests, Sam lost his valiant fight. To keep Sam’s memory alive, his parents, who now live in Lincoln, Montana, organized the Sam’s Hope Foundation and began raising money to help other families who have children fighting cancer in the hopes that someday there will be no more children who have to face cancer and that a cure can be found.

The Sam’s Hope Foundation provides financial assistance to families who have a child with cancer by helping the family with any cancer related expense they may be facing during their fight to win.
