PAST EVENTS

The Sam’s Hope Foundation was established in 2012 in memory of Rolland “Sam” Kolve.

The funds raised go to help families that are currently battling childhood cancer and childhood illness with any expenses that may incur, also those in need residing in the Lincoln Community.

Sam’s Hope Foundation of Montana is a 501(c)3, and our board runs several events, raffles and auctions throughout the year to raise funds to support families battling childhood illness and provide relief to others in need. We also give a yearly scholarship to a graduating member of the senior class in Great Falls, MT and Lincoln, MT. We have also established the Sam’s Hope Foundation Award which is given yearly to a 6th, 7th, and 8th grader who has improved scholastically and helped with community events.

1st Annual Sam’s Blackfoot Valley Chainsaw Competition | 2023, July 13-16th

🙌COMPLETE SUCCESS – 1ST ANNUAL SAM’S BLACKFOOT VALLEY CHAINSAW COMPETITION!🙌

We are pleased to report our 1st Annual Sam’s Blackfoot Valley Chainsaw Competition was a complete success! We were even featured on the news twice. The show was “Beary Successful”, raising just over $35k for the Sam’s Hope Foundation which will be used to benefit and be gifted to families in financial need while enduring the hardship of a child with a serious illness.

Marge & Glenn Kolve, who started The Sam’s Hope Foundation in 2012 in honor of the son they lost to a rare form of childhood cancer, have plans to put some of the funds raised this weekend, towards sending a check to a family in Great Falls, MT. This gift will be bestowed upon a 7 year old boy who has the exact same cancer as their Sam had. Marge & Glen are so excited to be able to pay it forward and help other families in their time of need.

They also give a huge heartfelt “THANK YOU” to the community who came together to facilitate this fundraising event here in Lincoln, all of the talented carvers who competed, and all the people who attended and purchased items at the auction or gave to the Charity while there!
“Our hearts are overflowing with the amazing blessing of how well received this event was and how much FUN everyone had while attending and at how much they will be able to do on behalf of The Sam’s Hope Foundation. We raised more money in those four days than we usually raise in a year!”
~ Marge Kolve.

Sam’s Hope Foundation of Montana hosted their 1st Annual Sam’s Blackfoot Valley Chainsaw Competition Fundraiser in hopes of making an even bigger difference in providing financial assistance to families who have a child with cancer or illness by helping the family with any cancer and illness related expenses they may be facing during their fight to win.

In hopes of making an even bigger difference in providing financial assistance, this charity fundraiser event was held at their hometown family restaurant, Lambkin’s, on July 13th-16th, 2023.

What to Expect:
We were excited to see the chip flying here in Lincoln, MT as we present 8 of the most talented artists coming from all over the northwestern states!

The competition was intense! The carvers all started out with a huge a 2’ x 8’ “Masterpiece”!
These AMAZING sculptures were Auctioned off for the charity on Sunday July 16th @1:30pm.

Carvers were also asked to do “Quick Carves” each of the four days. It was absolutely fascinating to watch the speed of the carvers as they whipped out fantastic pieces in a short one-and-a-half hour period.
Quick Carves were daily from 10:30 am -12:00pm and from 4:30pm-6:00pm.
Some of the “Quick Carves” were available for Auction on Saturday July 15th @ 7:00pm and the remainder were Auctioned off with the “Masterpiece” carvings on Sunday July 16th @ 1:30pm.

We encouraged everyone who attended to vote for thier FAVORITE carver for the People’s Choice Award. Voting boxes were at the information table.

We appreciate all of our sponsors, consultants and volunteers who helped us to kick off this 1st Annual Sam’s Blackfoot Valley Chainsaw Competition Charity Fundraiser, creating a true destination event where we were able to provide significant financial assistance to families who have a child with cancer or illness by helping the family with any cancer and illness related expenses they may be facing during their fight to win!

Please help us make an even bigger difference by Liking, Sharing, Attending Events and Participating in Raffles, or by simply Donating directly to the Sam’s Hope Foundation of Montana. We can’t express enough, how we sincerely appreciate your support in being able to pay it forward through Sam’s Hope Foundation of Montana. We felt so relieved and loved when we were given support when we were in our fight for Sam’s life and we are proud to do this on Sam’s behalf.
